So excited about today's featured wedding, because it's not every day we get to see a race track wedding. As a former champion midget race car driver and for two people who met through their love of racing, it was only right for Ashley and Mike to hold their wedding reception right at the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie. HOW DID YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND MEET? We met several years ago when Mike raced midget cars at Angell Park Speedway. He was my favorite driver's biggest competition. Years later we were all out with mutual friends and started chatting and hit it off and never looked back!
HOW DID YOU KNOW HE WAS "THE ONE"? They say you feel butterflies, I felt butterflies, and still do to this day. I had never felt that feeling in my entire life. I knew pretty much right away he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Our proposal wasn't anything crazy, our's was more of something we had discussed over the years. Mike had always said he never wanted to get married again. He must have seen the light at some point and one day he just came to me and said, "Do you want to get married?!" That is as easy as it gets but it was as perfect as it gets for me also!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS: My dress was the first dress I tried on. It was an Oleg Cassini dress, A-line gown, 5 layer chapel train, all over lace and dot tulle, with scalloped lace straps and v-neckline. My dress also had beaded lace appliques and illusion back detail, the back was lace with button closure.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: I kind of left our flowers up to the florists. I let them play around and have fun with them. They were made up of (I think) roses, carnations, lisianthus and spider mums.
WERE THERE ANY PERSONAL TOUCHES YOU INCORPORATED OR DIY ELEMENTS? Not so much personal touches, we did make all of our center pieces with mason jars with beaded lace wrapped around them. Simple yet elegant.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING? I wish I could say the entire day, but if I had to pick one moment, it would be the first dance with my husband. After all of the planning finally getting to dance with him and take in that moment surrounded by our friends and family
