This gorgeous barn wedding at Sugarland, as featured in the 2017 Wedding Planner & Guide, is full of floral patterns and bright bursts of pink, coral and teal colors. And can we talk about how stunningly perfect that rainbow is in the sky, shot by Abbots Lane? Handmade soap guest favors, pretty wildflowers and a little paint with rustic style made for Emily & Stu's gorgeous celebration.

WEDDING DATE: May 29, 2016

HOW DID YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND MEET? At work-- we are both in psychiatry. He is a psychiatrist and I will be graduating from psychiatry residency around June 2017.

HOW DID YOU KNOW HE WAS "THE ONE"? He's a one of a kind-- creative, quirky, smart, thoughtful, sensitive, and funny. I feel totally comfortable with him and love everything from traveling internationally with him to staying at home and sitting on the couch and just hanging out. I feel like he just 'gets' me, and once I really realized that, I knew.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Stu and I went on a week long vacation, driving around Lake Michigan. The first stop was my parent's house in Bryan, OH where Stu proposed in the home I grew up in-- after asking my dad if he could. We then got to celebrate with my parents and my best friend from high school!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS: BHLDN, all lace, buttons down the back. Purchased at their Chicago location.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: My bouquet was done by Daffodil Parker. The rest of the flowers were done by Nina Loeffler at Ripple Effect Farm. Variety of colors and wildflowers.

WERE THERE ANY PERSONAL TOUCHES OR DIY ELEMENTS? Yes, my sister had a poet in Nashville, TN write two poems about us as a couple (one about our first date and one about our wedding proposal). Those were part of the table centerpieces, which was so sweet. Also, in our unity ceremony we both poured paint on a canvas. For our guest book, we invited guests to pour paint down a canvas to create a piece of wall art. I made tons of pennants to hang in the barn. We made our cake topper (I painted the bride, Stu painted the groom). And, we had a "Kitty Cocktail" (with alcohol) section, where we put a picture of our cat's face in the middle of a big, loud wreath. Also, our guest favors were homemade soap (which Stu and I made with the help of Stu's mother, Barbara Jones).

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING? The rainbow right after the ceremony was amazing!!! Stu crying as I walked down the aisle was really special too.
