Spiced Garden Party Wedding Inspiration at Vennebu Hill in Baraboo, Wisconsin

Forget the delicate pastels of a traditional spring garden party. This Spiced Garden Party editorial at Vennebu Hill Event Venue embraced the richer, warmer side of garden-inspired design, pairing vintage blue with sun-ripened florals, soft linens, and beautifully collected details. 

Sistered Events drew inspiration from golden-hour gatherings and settings that feel lovingly assembled over time. This styled shoot celebrates layered textures, abundant blooms, and the beauty found in organic imperfection. The result is an inviting celebration that feels timeless, personal, and made for lingering long after the sun sets.

LK Bridal Studio brought a warm, sophisticated feel with stationery pieces in white, brown, taupe, and burgundy. They began with a contour-cut, framed invitation with detailed floral motifs. They then paired an upscale display typeface with  script initials, a high-contrast slanted serif, and a bolder italic typeface for the details.

Fonts, framing, and motifs carried across the other pieces in the suite, including a two-sided brown and taupe RSVP and a printed burgundy envelope with a mauve envelope liner.

Twig & Olive Photography photographed the stationery pieces alongside grapes, accessories, florals, and wine from Sognefjord Winery.

The team stepped outside for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony on Vennebu Hill Event Venue’s patio with stunning Wisconsin views. Signature Events provided an array of garden-inspired florals, beginning with a grounded floral arch including powder blue hydrangea, cream garden roses, peach roses, blush roses, pink roses, burgundy dahlias, burgundy scabiosa, blue delphinium, white daisy-like filler, soft greenery, and airy meadow filler. The arch was composed of two separate pieces, each using varying heights and textures to create an organic feel.

The same florals came together in a long-stem bridal bouquet, elegantly draped over model Kelsey’s arm.

Kelsey stepped into the scene wearing a strapless bridal gown from Bon Bon Belle, with a scoop neckline, basque waist, full skirt, and lightly textured fabric throughout. Kelsey accessorized with drop earrings, a delicate pearl chain necklace, golden bracelets, and a cathedral-length tulle veil.

Platinum Bond Salon chose a loose updo for the bride, curling her hair and securing it in a high bun, where curls draped down her neck. Face-framing pieces added extra softness. TrueToYou MakeUp Artistry also took a softer approach to Kelsey’s makeup with blush eyeshadow, blush high on her cheekbones, and a natural lip.

DuBois Formalwear outfitted the groom model, Travis, in a sharp black suit, blue vest, black dress shoes, and white dress shirt. They decided against a tie or bow tie for a relaxed but still formal feel. A two-piece floral boutonniere pinned to his lapel added a whimsical final touch to his ensemble.

Located in Baraboo, Wisconsin, Vennebu Hill Event Venue is a rural wedding and event venue just a short drive away from the bustling Wisconsin Dells. Their accessible, year-round, temperature-controlled venue is named after the Norwegian term for “a gathering place for friends and family,” and they offer many spaces to celebrate—both inside and out.

The tablescape was set inside Vennebu Hill Event Venue’s elegant indoor reception space, showcasing the venue’s rustic wine cellar. Signature Events provided a grounded floral piece on one side of the wooden reception table, as well as floral centerpieces placed between lit candles spanning the length of the top. Fruit as décor continued in the centerpieces, with green and purple grapes used as accents and a nod to the wine bottles on the table and in the backdrop.

Event Essentials brought a variety of pieces to elevate the scene, including plum-colored linens, green crystal glassware, and gold flatware. Social Affair Rentals provided the blue candle holders, and Sistered Events brought woven chargers, grapes, and white vintage plating. Contour-cut menus from LK Bridal Studio completed each setting, and live harp music from Pearlnote Strings added an elegant, romantic layer to the celebration.

For couples drawn to a moodier garden party aesthetic, we recommend prioritizing the details guests will interact with most: linens, place settings, glassware, candles, menus, and centerpieces. A few vintage or collected pieces can make the entire table feel more personal without requiring every element to match.

Signage and sweets awaited back on the patio. LK Bridal Studio led the way with a draped, sage green welcome sign, matching the style and typefaces from the stationery. Warm wooden details, a major component of the tablescape atmosphere, continued outside with a seating chart of vintage frames from Social Affair Rentals displayed on a wooden room divider. Additional rental pieces included lounge furniture from Event Essentials.

Sandy Kakes brought extra pops of color to the dessert table, surrounding a traditional, single-tier white wedding cake with green, dusty blue, and burgundy single-serve cakes. Each dessert also varied in texture, with frosting lines running vertically or horizontally. Artfully arranged fruit and floral toppings adorned every cake, with the single-tier cake as the centerpiece.

With golden hour quickly approaching, Twig & Olive Photography took every opportunity to play with composition and natural light. They captured a variety of detail shots and portraits of Kelsey and Travis wandering the venue grounds, including Vennebu Vineyard and their cozy fireplace setting. The final setting—that we cannot get enough of!—was a romantic, overhead view of the couple surrounded by florals.
