Our biggest show of the year is just a few days away! For those joining us at the Alliant Energy Center this weekend, here are a few expert tips from the WedPlan Maidon team to help you make the most of your experience.
Do a Little Homework Beforehand
We know, we know. 'Homework' might not be the best way to put it, but we highly recommend looking up the event details on our website ahead of the show. There, you will find a list of vendors, portfolios, and offerings before stepping through the door. While it's great to explore with an open mind, having a list of must-see vendors will help you focus your time wisely.
Dress for Comfort, But Let Your Style Shine
Wedding shows can involve lots of walking, so choose comfortable shoes and an outfit that reflects your personality. Whether your style is classic, glam, or a little edgy, express yourself while staying practical (and warm! It's Wisconsin, after all) for the day.
Arrive Early
Wedding shows can get busy quickly. Early arrival ensures you'll have more time for one-on-one conversations with vendors before the crowds pick up. While we also recommend a quick snack beforehand, make sure to leave room for all the delicious samples from caterers and bakers!
Bring a Friend
Ideally, you and your partner will both be able to attend, but if not--or if you just want to include more people in the day--a trusted friend or family member can be a huge help. Their input can be invaluable, and their presence gives you the opportunity to cover more ground at the show.
That being said, we encourage you to be selective with your guests and try not to bring too many people--large groups and strong opinions can be overwhelming, and you'll want to focus on what's best for your special day.
Have Your Contact Info Ready
Save time by bringing cards or labels with your name, email address, and wedding date. Vendors will often ask for your information to follow up, and having this ready will make the process quick and simple. For those who have already started gathering inspiration, like a color palette or Pinterest board, having those images handy can help potential vendors understand your style and vision.
Bring a Bag, Stay Organized, & Take Pictures
Between brochures, business cards, and samples, you'll collect a lot of goodies throughout the day. In addition to a bag or backpack, we also recommend bringing a notebook or using a note-taking app on your phone to record ideas or inspiration to revisit later. Don't hesitate to take pictures of things that catch your eye--that is what our scapes, booths, and samples are for!
Look for Deals and Giveaways
Many vendors will offer exclusive discounts or specials at our wedding show. Keep an eye out for "book now" deals, giveaways, and other exciting offers that could save you money or add something special to your celebration.
Follow Up After the Show
Don't be shy! Vendors love hearing about your wedding and getting to know you. The show is your opportunity to ask questions, share your vision, and explore who might be the right fit for your unique day. And if you think you've found your dream team, send a quick follow-up email to let them know how much you enjoyed meeting them and ask about the next steps. This is a great way to start building important vendor relationships.
Enjoy the Experience
Above all, remember to have fun! Wedding planning can feel overwhelming, but bridal shows are meant to inspire you. Whether you're taste-testing cakes or dancing to the music at the DJ booths, let yourself enjoy the planning journey.
and last but not least...
