WEDDING DATE: June 10, 2017

HOW DID YOU MEET? We met on an airplane.

HOW DID YOU KNOW SHE WAS "THE ONE"? I remember a trip my family took to Galena. It was sort of the family's first real introduction to Candice. We went on a walk along a river together. At one point my sister, mom and Candice sort of separated from the guys. I remember looking back and although I couldn't hear what they were saying, I could tell they were getting along really well. I knew she would be a great addition to the family. I told her I loved her that day for the first time.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: Willie proposed at gate B28 (where he first saw me) and our departure gate the first time we met.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: Jamae, from Flora Designs by Jamae worked magic for our flowers. They were more than I could have dreamed of. Her talent and passion for floral design truly amaze me. A few generous women in the community allowed me to cut their peony buds from their yards to use for our wedding. I had been planning on using some of my own peony buds but found that my young peonies did not produce as many buds as I wanted.

WERE THERE ANY PERSONAL TOUCHES OR DIY ELEMENTS? We included a wall of wedding pictures of our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. We wrote our own vows. My mom wrote and recited a poem as part of our ceremony. Since our wedding was nondenominational, we decided to create our own "unity ceremony." We poured dirt from Willie's family farm (six generations) into a pot with a plant from my grandmother's garden in New York. Hanee, our Greek rescue dog was a bridesmaid and walked down the aisle with the best man. Willie's musical touch comes with a bit of a backstory. Willie's grandmother gave us a book of love poems for our engagement gift. This book belonged to Willie's Great Aunt Maude. Willie had several members of our family record themselves reciting one of the poems. He then built this contraption that then allowed a guest to push a button and play different parts of the poem. It was perfect, although it broke toward the beginning of the event.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING? Candice: Hearing Willie's vows. Willie: Seeing my bride for the first time.

DID YOU USE ANY SPECIALTY LINENS, CHAIRS, DINNERWARE OR GLASSWARE? We loved all the vintage sofas and lounges we rented from A La Crate Vintage Rentals.

From the bride: Everyone that was involved with the wedding made our dream wedding come true. Our families and our loved ones really made the day as special as it turned out to be.

Andrea VandeBerg from Cherry Blossom Events, (a close friend of ours had recommended her and said of her, " She is worth her weight in gold."), they were right. Our wedding wouldn't have been as nearly put together and amazing if it weren't for Andrea and her team.

We were initially nervous about having someone we just met, marry us. With Leslie, she was never a stranger. Leslie worked with us to create our ceremony, but she blew us away with how it all came together.
